i'd give it an in-between rating. on the positive side - the location was nice. walking distance to a subway & bus station plus some restaurants and a 711 nearby. this is advertised as a walk up to the 2nd floor but it was only a few steps up and the unit was near the door so locationwise this is a nice apartment. the unit looked nice and the size, according to my friends, is ok for NY standards. internet connection was good and thanks for not collecting a deposit. the downsides - the host is NOT easy to get in touch with. i had my friends call them up but were directed to a voicemail and they do not call you back. i had to ask roomorama's help to contact the host but even they admitted that they could not reach the host. i had to ask them plenty of times the address so that we could make arrangements for the transfers and for meeting our friends. i didnt get the exact address until the day i went to their office to check in. when we got there, the place was ok. however, we could not locate the remote control. so ok, we tried to manually turn the TV on but there was NO signal! my grandmother who stayed in the apartment for a whole day (who does not use an android phone) just slept coz she wasnt able to watch tv. plus, the shower ceiling had a leak! on the 1st night we were advised that maintenance would be coming in by 10am the next day and we had to be at the apartment to let them in. we had only 3 whole days in NY and staying at the apartment to watch over the maintenance was NOT part of our plans. we had bus tours booked already. So i advised we wont be able to stay and to schedule earlier. of course no reply. when we came back after the bus tour we found out that they STILL went ahead and went inside the apartment. on the 2nd day we tried calling (surprise, no answer!) and tried sending an email regarding the remote but got a reply later in the afternoon on the 3rd day. too late for that! anyway, bottomline, the location was nice. the apartment was clean enough. but the host is very difficult to get ahold of. they didnt even have viber. as a tourist i dont have a local number to easily get to call them (and again, their phones are not contactable). i never write reviews but from the beginning of this booking, before i even arrived in NY, i was very disappointed about the communication aspect.
