Layne was an excellent host with a great personality. She is a unique, cultured, and artsy individual. In the flat, there are paintings and books everywhere. There was even a record player along with several old records, a full-sized, upright electric piano, and a device to play music from one's iPod. She was very kind and forthright. The flat was clean. She provided bathing essentials as well as some breakfast food. The flat is in a nice, safe, yet hip neighborhood with several restaurants, cafes, and bars nearby. It is located in the Wicker Park area; so, it is smack in between the north side neighborhoods and the downtown. Also, access to Netflix on the huge flatscreen and secure WIFI was an added bonus. Street parking was available - just be responsible - check the signs and use public transporation in the evenings to secure a parking spot overnight. I used my bike and locked it in the backyard, which is pretty secluded. The bike ride on Lakefront Trail was awesome. My friend from out of the country was quite pleased with the accomodations and ultimately enjoyed his stay in Chicago, and I did as well. You can't beat the price for the quality. She could have easily charged more.
