Very lovely place, great location, very friendly hosts. My dad felt at home. He will definitively come back. Thank you Betsy & Gerhard!

Betsy and Gerhard are just absolutely awesome! Very friendly and attentive, always willing to go the extra mile to accommodate any needs. They're truly the perfect hosts. I stayed for over a month as in between places, and the suite if very cozy, clean and with all the necessities. Fairly close to public transportation, grocery store, and with tons of restaurants and bars just a few blocks away in the heart of Andersonville. I'd recommend staying in their place to anyone.

We had the most wonderful stay at Betsy and Gerhard's. On a number of different levels: The suite was elegant, with a refined sense of style. And it was super clean. They have thought of everything. Every drawer or cupboard we opened had a little surprise-- from a fully stocked bathroom mirror cabinet, to all sorts of travel guides and coupons for things to do in chicago. But mainly, and most important for us, they were as warm and friendly and accommodating as any hosts we've ever had. We can't recommend this place highly enough.

Betsy and Gerhard were lovely hosts. The suite (basically a back portion of the upstairs of their home) is cozy, clean, and had everything we needed (fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, dishes, silverware, window unit air conditioner in bedroom, etc.). It has a private porch which is great for reading and coded lock to private stairway is very convenient. It is also perfectly located for hanging out in Andersonville. We will definitely try to stay with them again if the opportunity presents itself.

We stayed at The Lilacs in the June whilst attending a wedding in Chicago. Our hosts were an absolute pleasure and could not do enough for us, greeting us on arrival with a friendly welcome and lots of local information. The accommodation was comfortable and homely, with the external porch/patio being a rare treat/bonus. With its location being only a couple of minutes’ walk from the centre of Andersonville (cafes, bars, restaurants, shopping) and its lovely hosts, I cannot recommend this accommodation strongly enough.

My parents stayed with the Kane's while visiting me this week. They could not speak more highly of their experience and the apartment. I got the tour and it was super cute, and my dad LOVED the sun room with heated floors. If you're looking for a cute, cozy place for 1-2 people in a great neighborhood, this is it!

I was lucky enough to stay here for 5 weeks while on a business trip in Chicago. Betsy and Gerhard were warm and welcoming hosts; additionally they were a lovely kind hearted couple. They were easy to communicate with and went out of their way to ensure that I was comfortable (without every being overbearing!) They were also very flexible and easy to work with when my travel plans changed a bit. As a female traveler traveling alone, I was looking for a place that was safe and that had easy accessible parking- this place had both! The place itself was beautifully decorated and had a comfortable, cozy feel to it. The bed was comfortable, there was a full sized fridge, private bathroom, and private entrance. The porch was a lovely addition to the apartment, I loved to sit out there and read, as it was climate controlled. Overall, my experience was wonderful and I whole heartedly recommend staying here if you are in Chicago!

look no further. this is IT! great hosts & location. the place is beautiful and immaculate. pictures don't do justice to it. the porch is spectacular. quintessential chicago neighborhood experience. close to wonderful local eateries and alternative shops (don't miss green sky!). enjoy it!

Great place to stay for short visit to Chicago! We spent 2 nights here and that was wonderful. If you come you will find the house very interesting such as the way we enter and lock the door. This place is close to everywhere. Normally people might live in hotels near airport because rent and parking are cheep; right now living in this house we get free parking and short distance to anyplace. The host family is really nice and considerable. Would like to come back in the future!

My husband & I stayed for 2 nights while visiting our daughter. Andersonville is a wonderful neighborhood, and the apartment was pictured as is, small but cozy. It felt comfortable walking in at the end of a long day, much better than a hotel room. Betsy & Gerhard are wonderful hosts, we couldn't have asked for better. Thank you. We'll be back.

We enjoyed our stay at this wonderful apartment. Especially we liked having breakfast in the winter garden. The apartment is a gem as well as the hosts are.

We really loved staying at this little apartment, the price is awesome and the neighborhood is great, there are more than a few restaurants very close and delicious! We actually did a foodie tour in the same area (Check out Foodie and the Feast) and it was one of the highlights of hour week in chicago! We recommend the pie place (two blocks walk) and A little Piece of Heaven (breakfast IS heaven!) The apartment was clean, beautifully decorated and spacious. Note that the floor squeaks a lot, and the bed could be more comfortable, if you are a delicate sleeper, it might bother you a bit since it seems to have a bit of a dent in the middle, my hubby an I slept pretty well though! We would definitely book it again if we come back to Chicago!

Great apartment with private entrance. Betsy and Gerhard were a super sweet couple. I would definitely stay again when I am in town and will highly recommend to others.

The room is lovely and clean with a very comfortable bed and great internet. Betsy and Gerhard were super friendly hosts and responded very quickly to emails. They also had tons of great restaurant recommendations since the area has many places to eat. The building is in a safe, quiet tree-lined residential street with plenty of free street parking. The unit is private and is just like the photos with ice cold air conditioning (perfect for summer). There are a number of steps to haul up luggage, though, but Gerhard was great helping with the bags. Also, it's easy walk to public transportation (just steps to the Ashland 9 and the Clark 22). Definitely would recommend.

Very comfortable place, perfect to relax yourself after a long day walking in Chicago. Closer to red line and Clark St. to reach Downtown. Thank you Betsy & Gerhard for your support.

This is a beautiful little apartment attached to a gorgeous house on a very peaceful Chicago street. The hosts are lovely and dedicated to ensure your stay is comfortable. We really appreciated the coffee and biscuits and the wonderful attention to detail. Andersonville is a fantastic place to stay, with great restaurants and bars on Clark street and easy access to Downtown via the EL or busses. Highly recommended and would definitely stay here again when we're back to Chicago.

This was a pleasant place to stay. The owners thought of small details that made the trip worthwhile, such as maps, restaurant guides, silverware, body soap and a hair dryer to name a few. Definitely would stay there again
