We received a very warm welcome from Kees explaining how everything works in the home (including the four TV''s, cable system and internet router) we had welcome drinks for us including a much needed beer for me and a lovely greeting message with dutch biscuits on the table. kees and his wife Ans live close by so are available if needed. Everything was perfect with exceedingly clean rooms, beds (with electric adjustment) and lovely bathroom. The dishwasher only worked once but Kees did his best to rectify the problem before replacing it with a new one and offering a discount for our inconveniance. There was no sink in the downstairs toilet which for British people is strange and although the house is fantastic I would not recommend it for families with very elderly adults staying who have trouble with walking steadily or problems with balance as the stairs are incredibly steep and of irregular depth (not uncommon in Holland so OK for us as we are used to this type of stair arrangement), Similarly for families with toddlers who are learning to walk (or love climbing) I would be a bit wary of the stairs as there is no banister on the outside. . We loved our week here and took in many local sights including the beautiful seaside resorts of Egmond, Bergen and Castricum.Restaurants are incredibly expensive compared to UK for not a particularly great cuisine, so its handy to use the well appointed kitchen. A budget of £65 to £80 is normal for a single course with drinks for two adults and two children. We had to cut short our holiday by one day but wil be back if the owners have not moved in themselves by that time !
