Caveat Emptor. I stayed in this room for 5 weeks, August thru September 2014 while I was working at a local hospital. The room was as pictured with a window fan as well which was helpful on hot days. Upon arrival, the room and furniture were not very well cleaned, the desk and dresser had hair, debris and some garbage still in them. The common areas had overflowing trash cans and old spills on the kitchen/bathroom counters and floors. The assigned drawer in the bathroom for Unit 4 (this unit) had similar old debris, used razors, etc. The space on the shower organizer/rack that was assigned to unit 4 was caked with old soap. The neighborhood was pretty quiet after 8:30pm when the next door neighbor (a karate school) was finished for the night. The walk to the Davis Square T station takes 15-20 minutes and is very enjoyable and safe. I discovered that there were some questions which I should have asked before signing the rental agreement. I recommend that future renters ask similar questions: 1) how many people will be sharing the advertised 1 bathroom? 2) are all 4 bedrooms occupied? are they long term tenants or short term/roomorama type tenants? 3) how is the care of common areas and purchasing of common items (toilet paper, towels, dish soap) taken care of? 4) Are there pots/pans and kitchen/cooking utensils/plates available to use and in good working order? Is there a broom/dustpan and/or mop available to use? 5) Will there be dedicated space available to store items in the fridge and freezer? There were 3 permanent residents in their early 20s living there, and had been there x5 yrs per their report. They were not keen on having a short term renter. The landlord lives in a separate apartment in 2nd floor of the house, he does not share the bathroom or kitchen with the other renters. The answers to the rest of the questions and even this information is very subject to change. If I had asked the above questions my expectations could have been better in line with reality and therefore my experience may have been better. Thus I am giving it a thumbs up because overall it was a nice room and has potential. The one flaw that was a reasonable expectation was the lack of cleanliness upon move-in.
